Okay, you are probably wondering what in the world is a cow chip festival... Do you have to ask?
It's the festival that everyone waits for and talks about, (and pokes fun at! ),
The Cow Chip Festival is the biggest event in Dighton. Dighton Massachusetts is a nice quiet farm town, close to where I live. From what I understand, the Cow Chip Festival is hosted by the Lions Club and takes place every year. This is the 19th year.
The festivities begin on Friday night at 6pm. (I just got back)
The big event happens when cows come on the scene on Saturday afternoon. Each ticket for a square of "real estate" is $10.00. Tickets are sold way in advance. Topped off with a country concert Saturday evening. The Lions Club raises between $7000 and 8000.00 that they give back to the community every year. There is also plenty of food, New England Clam Chowder, Ice Cream, Hot dogs, and much more. Amusement Rides for the kids, Games etc.
Sunday night the festivities end with fireworks at 10pm. Also all the rides during the day are $1.00 on Sunday.
People come from all around to attend. It certainly is an event not to be missed.
If you live in New England, this could be a nice day trip for you and your family. Come and join us.
